This new work brings a feminist sensibility to recurring themes in popular media through an exciting blend of dance, dialogue, music and film.
Girlfriend is an often athletic theatrical comic strip, packed with emotionally charged vignettes and alternative, political takes on ballet and music video.
From Beyonce to Balanchine, no-one is safe!
Engaging local women in a community cast to perform alongside the professional dancers, these girlfriends challenge popular perceptions of the female image, highlighting and questioning the misogyny of perfection.
Enter their world and share in their brutal truths and common experiences; with the odd comic twist.
